Man and history

Le Domainede la Pousse d'Or can be traced back to the Dukes of Burgundy and the year1100. Since 1997, its new owner Patrick Landanger has invested considerableresources both in the vineyards themselves and in the arrangements forvinification and elevage.

In pursuitof ever-higher quality, he is animated by profound respect for his terroirs andthis guides his ambition to share his passion for the great wines of Burgundywith the world at large.

Appellation: PremierCru
Area under vine: 0.4221 hectares (9.86 ouvrées)
Location: The part of the vineyard bordering on the village ofChambolle-Musigny
Sun exposure: South-east facing.
Soil: Les Feusselottes is located in the heart of the village. Thesoil contains limestone and clay, and is very stony. Feusselottes means"little holes" or "little cavities". The soil is fairlyshallow, which tends to account for the wine's mineral aftertaste.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
When planted: 33% in 1920 and 33% in 1926, and 33% in 1966.
Vineyard: The vines are grown without the use of pesticides orinsecticides, and only natural fertiliser (manure) is used. Ploughing keeps thesoil loose and well-aerated, and no weed killers are applied.
Fermentation: The grapes are hand picked into small crates, sortedin the vat room and 100% destemmed. Cold fermentation for 7 days is followed bytemperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation with two pigeages (punching thecap) a day and maceration for 21 days.
Barrel-ageing: Aged on the lees in oak barrels (30% new) for 15months, with late-occurring, natural malolactic fermentation. Neither fined norfiltered. Racked and bottled by gravity flow.
Tasting notes: A marked bouquet of red fruit and wild strawberriesin its youth.  This climat can be relied on for elegance and finesse. Awonderful, and highly typical Chambolle-Musigny.
